Amb temples

Date of Occupation: Kushan Period

The main temple is roughly 65 feet tall and built out of brick and gypsum mortar on a square plinth. It is regarded as the “loftiest” of temples built by the Hindu Shahi’s in the Salt Range. The temple is three storied high, with stairwells leading to inner ambulatories. The western part has fallen down and the rests on brick piers. The temple is decorated with Kashmiri style motifs on its exterior, including arched niches niche. The structure of the main temple differs from Kashmiri temples which typically have pointed shikaras. The main temple is instead similar in style to the nearby Kalar and Kafir Kot temples.

To the west about 200 feet lies another smaller temple, which is double storied high. The temple features a small verandika facing towards the main temple. The temple complex was surrounded by a fortification of late Kushan period, with the earliest construction at the site dating to the late Kushan period. the porch has cinquefoil arch and has several offsets and square pilasters like other temples of Mari and Kafir Kot. Both the temples have different orientations.
