The Bagh e Mirza Kamran is the earliest Mughal monument in Lahore. It built on the left bank of river Ravi in 1540 AD. Mirza Kamran (r.1530–1540 and 1555–1556), said to have constructed two superb gardens in Lahore. The Nolakha garden no longer exists, but the remains of Bagh-e Mirza Kamran is still extant in the middle of River Ravi. Mirza Kamran, who had been earlier granted Kabul and Kandahar, annexed Punjab shortly after Babur’s death in 1530, leaving Humayun no choice but to confirm this arrangement. The garden has a beautiful pavilion (baradari), a water tank and several pools. It also had a beautiful star shaped pool which was destroyed in 1980. The baradari was planned on hasht-behist pattern with central hall flanked by four smaller chambers. The baradari has a verandah on all four side with five multifold arched openings on each side. The entire complex was planned on the basis of gaz e Ilahi, i.e, Akbar period gaz (yard). The interior of the baradari was finished with lime mortar and fresco paintings. This riverfront garden was the setting for a major conference of the Mughal princes in 1540.The baradari and other landscape feature became a model for future landscape projects in Lahore.
