The tomb of Diwan Shurfa Khan (d. 1638/1047 AH) minister in the state government during Mughal rule, is the most impressive monument of the Mughal period. The square plan tomb stands on a platform in a walled enclosure with a mosque on its western side. It is the best preserved and most colorful of the brick monuments on Makli Hill. Each facade of the tomb has deep pishtaqs and stand out from round towers at each corner enclosing staircase leading to the roof. This feature makes it distinct among other tombs of the area. The Persian style dome resting on a drum covered with blue glazed tiles is also a distinct feature of the tomb. The exterior of the tomb is finished with fair face brickwork, blue and turquoise tiles. The red brick walls have light blue tiles set in the joints.
The interior of the dome is decorated in glazed bricks in a chevron pattern, a feature also found in Shah Jahan Mosque Thatta, and the mihrab in the western wall of the enclosure, as well as the central part of the mosque, are decorated with tiles.
