Mankiyala Stupa

Name of Monument: Mankiyala Stupa

Location: Rawat, Rawalpindi

Date of Construction: 2nd-3rd century BC

Manikyala Stupa, believed to have been built during the reign of Kanishka between 128 and 151 AD. An alternate theory suggest that the stupa is one of 84 such buildings, built during the reign of Mauryan emperor Asoka to house the ashes of the Buddha. The stupa represents the Buddhist traditions prevalent in the region during that era. Its grandeur and intricate design elements are a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of ancient artisans.
