Thul Mir Rukan

The Buddhist stupa of Thul Mir Rukan is located near the modern cities of Kazi Ahmad and Daulatpur, Sindh. It was possibly built between the 6th to 11th century AD. It is a solid cylindrical structure, constructed with a brick casing about 65 feet meters in height stands over a square base about 72 feet in each side. It would appear to have been built in four tiers surmounted by a dome, each tier being smaller than that below it and separated from it by a string course of semicircular mouldings. The face of each tier is ornamented by square pilasters with base and ornamental capital at intervals. A number of terracotta images of Buddha and representations showing the birth scene were found in the excavations. This monument was constructed with baked bricks. Details indicate the site being a religious Buddhist center since antiquity. The physical evidences found from the site indicated that the site was related to Gutama Buddha.
