The tomb of Ala ud Din Meeran Mauj Darya, a descendent of Makhdoom Jahanian Jahangasht, was built during the Akbar period. He moved to Lahore after the victory of Chitor and settled in the Anarkali area. The tomb is octagonal in the plan has high walls, an octagonal drum, and a low dome. The wall has recessed blind arches on four sides and rectangular panels on the other four but and devoid of any decoration. It is the only tomb where a vertical tower at each corner has been used probably taking inspiration from the Multani architectural tradition. There are smaller turrets at each corner of the drum. The tomb shows that significant experimentation was made to evolve a definite vocabulary of tomb design.
