Brief Description

The tomb of Mohammed bin Haroon, a Muslim General of the 8th century, is situated in a graveyard of Bela town. It was built sometimes around 11th century. He made his marks on the Makran Coast and then proceded along with Mohammad bin Qasim who was sent by Governor Hajjaj bin Yousuf. Muhammad Bin Qasim was first arrived in Makran, where he was welcomed by Muhammad Bin Haroon but later they set out together in the direction of Armanbela (BELA). Due to illness and bad health he could not joined the army of Mohammad bin Qasim and died in Bella where his tomb is situated.

The tomb is square in plan and built in fairface brickwork. The tomb is most ornate at the parapet level where dentil, zigzag and zangira patern beside triangular formation of bricks. The tomb has project mihrab. In the interior the squinch arches convert the plan into an octagon which support a point dome. The tomb is one of the earliest in Bela.
