Name of Monument: Maqbara Nawab Said Khan

Location: Inside the compound of the Mission Hospital Peshawar.

Nawab Said Khan was son of Ahmed Beg Kabuli. He was one of the ablest governors of Shah Jahan (1628-58 AD). He joined the Mughal imperial service in the time of Jahangir (1605-28 AD) and was first appointed in Kabul, During the early years of Shah Jahan reign he got rapid promotions and became the governor of the suba Kabul and Peshawar, He served the Mughal state with distinction till his death (1652.A.D). He was buried in a Dabgari. The site was converted into Mission hospital and tomb building into a chapel during the British period.

The tomb is octagonal in plan and double storied high. The tomb is a fine specimen of brick construction. The plan is hasht behisht in plan with four sides have high pishtaqs and four sides have deep double tier of recesses alcoves. On the sides of solid brickwork of high pshtaqs, is vertically divided into four recessed niches. The interior is also double storied high. The octagonal plan was converted into sixteen-sided polygon which carried a low dome. Presently, the interior has significant alteration carried out with wooden construction to make it suitable for chapel.
