Saif ud Daula Mahmud was the governor of Ghaznavid possessions in India in 1076-7, who spent later part of his life in Karman fort. He was buried after his death in the present tomb which was built on a raised platform. The tomb building is square in plan measuring 22 feet a side. Externally the western side of the tomb consists of a high pointed sunk arch in which lies an entrance. under a ventilator by a fixed wooden beam, which spans horizontally almost whole width of the arch. This arrangement was repeated almost on all four sides. The structure was superimposed by a cup shaped low dome. The arches were made up of thin stone slabs set in lime mortar, but rest of the building shows dressed stone blocks set in regular courses of dry masonry.
