Tomb of Yar Muhammad Kalhoro

Mian Yaar Muhammad Kalhoro was the first ruler of Sind in Kalhora dynasty. He died in 1718. After wandering about northern Sindh and Baluchistan finally settled down at Khudabad and gave the name to this region Khudabad. His tomb lies in a graveyard located at the distance about 2 km from the Jamia mosque Khudabad, on the main Indus highway south of Dadu. It is located in Taluka and District Dadu.

Total covered area of the graveyard is 12 acres. Graveyard consists of Tajars, tombs and many graves are scattered within the mausoleum. The tomb of Mian Yaar Muhammad Kalhoro is located in the western half of the enclosed area. There are three graves inside the tomb. It is mentioned that the construction of the tomb was ordered by Mian Yar Muhammad Kalhoro in 1701 A.D. and finished during the time of Mian Noor Muhammad. The tomb is square in plan and has a monumental facade. The main feature of the front facade is monumental arch set in the middle of facade flanked by solid masonry work divided into rectangular arched panels set one above the other. The tomb has domed kiosks at the corner. The tomb is finished with blue and white glazed tiles with variety of floral and geometrical patterns. It is one of the most beautiful tombs of early Kalhoro period.
